The remaining components of the drywall gun are also of the same excellent TapeTech quality.

CONTROL TUBE WITH EASY GRIP. To make cutting tape easier and more comfortable, the control tube has been extended by 2.5″ and glide wheels have been added. It takes much less force to operate the cutter because the glide wheels, which are recessed into flanges at either end of the control tube, act as stops for your hands.

With the QUICK-CHANGE TAPE BAIL, changing tape rolls is simple and doesn’t need setting the taper down. The fact that there are no loose pieces to lose or reinstall is the best aspect. Holding the tape retainer wire towards the end of the spool post, press it down and out through the retainer slot to change tape rolls. Change tape rolls by placing the new roll completely onto the spool post and swinging the retainer wire up and out of the way. Guide the retainer wire into the retainer slot by swinging it back down. It’s that easy!

QUICK CABLE CHANGES. To make changing cables easier, the plunger stop has been enhanced. An easy-to-remove and reinstall plastic plunger stop has been used in place of the metal and exposed screw heads. Lift the locking tab to release the plunger stop, then spin it 1/4 turn counterclockwise to remove it. Pull the stop off the taper after twisting, then carry out the standard cable change steps.

The stop should be slipped into the taper end and twisted a quarter turn clockwise to reinstall. Align the guide tabs to the slots. Twist the assembly farther until the tab snaps into position, securing it together. Very little force should be needed to install the stop if it is aligned appropriately. Never before has changing a cable been simpler!

great right out of the box

With a Tapeworm automatic drywall taper, I began taping drywall in 1987. I know how to run and comprehend automated tapers, but I’m not the only guy in the world that does. I just purchased a Columbia automatic taper in the regular model. It functioned reasonably well, but it had flaws that I didn’t think were acceptable for a brand-new unit. For example, the tape advance was a complete mess and a pain in the neck to adjust, and the head would leak occasionally, though not badly, and I might have expected that from a tool with a year or two on it rather than a brand-new one. I updated to the TapeTech easyclean after returning the first one to All-Wall, and I can honestly say that this tool is a very, very good working taper. It’s not that Columbia wouldn’t record studios; rather, I’ve been struggling with it since it was first released. The TapeTech performed well right out of the box, was smooth and clean, and was everything you would expect from a brand-new machine.
