It gets harder to see the surface and texture of the things you’re preparing to paint as the sun sets. Believe me, as a trained house painter, I’ve made the error of employing the wrong lighting, resulting in a product that looked awful and required redoing.
Use the best lighting available if you want to paint the walls or ceilings of your home. What then, be it for woodworking or painting flat surfaces like walls and ceilings, is the best light for painting walls?

Your regular lighting should be adequate if all you’re doing is repainting a wall without performing any preparation work, such as spackling. However, you need a stronger light when the surface has been spackled, particularly if the entire surface has been spackled.
The LED light is useful in this situation.

After sanding and priming a wall, I position the LED light at the end of the wall so that it shines across the surface to simulate sunlight coming in through a window. By doing this, you will be able to observe every single detail and fill in any remaining imperfections.

The LED light has to be brighter or more Lumen depending on the size of the room, or you can simply move it around as you paint. 4000 Lumen should be plenty for rooms of average size.
Although LED lights can cost more than halogen or lamps with lightbulbs, they have a much longer lifespan and are shockproof. Compared to other options like halogen and incandescent light bulbs, they consume up to 90% less power.
And they don’t get too hot, so for me, choose a light source to use when I paint is a no-brainer.

What color light is best for painting?

Natural sunshine is the finest lighting source for painting walls since it renders colors the most accurately and allows for more brilliant hues.
When that isn’t an option, an LED light with a color rendering index of at least 90 and a Kelvin temperature range of 5000–6500K will most closely resemble natural light.
Color temperature is measured in kelvins, or K. The light is warmer and more golden the lower on the scale it is. A greater blue light will be produced by a higher number. A light that is between 4000 and 7500K emits more white light.
Then what is CRI?
The CRI (Color Rendering Index) test measures how well a light source reproduces the color of an object. The more real-lifelike the colors appear, the higher the number. On a scale of 0-100, different light sources receive different ratings.
